MURRIETA -- A Southern California man is facing trial for duct taping his elderly mother to a chair and cutting her oxygen tube.
Murrieta police officers went to the retirement community home of 73-year-old JoAnn Cornelius in April and found her bleeding and struggling to breathe with six broken ribs.
She told officers her 47-year-old son taped her to a chair and took her glasses and hearing aids before cutting her oxygen supply.
Gregory Cornelius was living with his mother and he was angry she didn't do his laundry.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/Y8vrVV ) says the woman's son was arrested and charged with attempted murder, elder abuse, false imprisonment and torture.
A judge ruled on Monday that there was enough evidence for trial.
He's in jail with bail set at $2 million.
